Overview

There are tons of great DNN modules for visual charts out there for graphing data of all types. (We know, we keep up with that stuff) This one is different. We’re giving you all kinds of control and features. And yes, you guessed it, that’s why it’s a little pricey. As on our other dotnetnuke modules, we’ve worked some solid hours on it. But hey, enough about that. You need to see it to understand it.

The reason we called our newest DNN module the “Network Tree” is because of the first project that this idea came from. As a dnn module creator and consumer, we identified the need to build a tool that allowed us to not only view, but manipulate a downline multimarketing commission genealogical hierarchy. PHEW that was a mouthful! But you’re going to love this.

We’re giving you quite a bit of control for whatever kind of test drive you want to take this baby out on. You can change the color theme of the bubbles and search for your users, but that’s simple stuff. Add your own SQL variables and queries in order to drag and drop and update the records and even delete. The tokens allow you to place whatever data you need to place wherever you need it!

The list is virtually endless, but check out a few of the ways you can use the network tree module:

  1. Drag and drop your own DNN Menu items
  2. Tracking genealogy
    1. Family trees
    2. Animal blood lines
  3. Company staff structures (who reports to whom)
  4. Product made up of component
  5. Affiliate marketing systems
  6. Multi-Level Marketing systems
  7. Direct Sales systems
  8. Site maps etc.

Try out the trial feature for 30 days and we are sure this module will leave you amazed!

Manage a Tree

Network Tree module is provided with 4 main Manage Tree options:

  • Basic This section will provide the Basic Tree settings
    1. Render Tree Without Tooltips : If checked then tree will render without tooltip, if unchecked with tooltip.
    2. Show Tree On Page Load : If checked then tree layout will be rendered at page loading time, if unchecked then it will show the Home Screen with search textbox and button
    3. Initially Opened Levels : You can set max 4 initially opened levels of tree layout
    4. Tree View : This is one of the main option of manage tree section. According to the tree view selected the particular options are shown. User can select Basic/Advanced/Org Chart tree view
    5. Single Icon (for Simple Tree only) : This is the icon for network members who doesn’t have any child member
    6. Group Icon (for Simple Tree only) : This is the icon for network members who are having at least one child member
    7. Upload Icon (for Simple Tree only) : You can upload the single/group icon here
  • Layout This section will provide the Layout (look and feel) settings
    1. Layout Preview : In this you can set the color for various elements with color picker like
      • Search Button / Search Textbox border color
      • Search Button background color
      • Search Button text color
      • Header color
      • Header text color
      • Tree background color
      • Tree member text color
    2. Basic Settings : In this you can set the color for various elements with color picker like
      • Tree Font Size (px): Tree member text font size in pixels
      • Tree Width: Tree layout width in pixels
      • Tree Height: Tree layout height in pixels
    3. Basic Settings : In this you can set the color for various elements with color picker like
      • Header Color: Tree Mode Header color
      • Text Color:Tree Mode Header text color
      • Panel Heading: Tree mode heading text
  • SQL In this section you can set the T-SQL from where you want to load the data

NB! For the module to display the data it is essential that the root node has a parent value of NULL. If the root parent value is not NULL, the module will generate a fairly obscene error.

    ChildId ParentId Description
    1 1 Engine
    2 1 Engine Block
    3 1 Crank Shaft
    5 1 Piston

As you can see from the above data, each child record is connected to the parent record with the ParentId field. Also not that the Root node is NULL. This is essential to the functioning of the module.

    1. Select Statement For Creating Report
      • Data From Table: When selected you will get a dropdown of all tables present in current portals database. Select the table from where you want to load the data. Note that table should have definition similar as shown in above example. On clicking Apply Datasource button the corresponding fields will be loaded in dropdowns just below it.
      • SQL Query: When selected you can set T-SQL statement which needs to return data similar like above example. On clicking Apply Datasource button the corresponding fields will be loaded in dropdowns just below it.
    2. Search Grid Fields : This are the fields which you want to show in search grid at Home Screen. You can select maximum 4 fields
    3. Parent Key Field : set the parentid field.
    4. Child Key Field : set the childid field.
    5. Display Field : set the field which you want to show as member name.
    6. Search Field : set the field which you want that user should search.
    7. DNN UserId Field(needs for Org Chart) : set the UserId field.

    11. SQL Query For Deleting Nodes : set the SQL query for deleting of nodes. It will be fired by module when user will delete the node.
    12. Roles For Deleting Nodes : set Roles for Deleting Nodes. Only the users with checked Roles will have permission to Delete a Node(member).
  • Tooltip In this section you can set tooltip appearance/look and feel
    1. HTML Template: You can upload HTML template for Tooltip

What is Network Tree?

Network Tree is a tool developed for the DotNetNuke or DNN platform which enables user to view any type of hierarchical data visually in form of tree structures like basic or advance chart. Under this module, user will be able to perform various operations like search, move, and delete members.

What Features are available in Network Tree?

  1. Visual representation of hierarchical data
  2. Retrieving hierarchical data from a specific location in a table
  3. Multiple designed tree structures for the representation
  4. Displaying data related to a node using a tool tip and MyTokens
  5. Moving nodes in a tree
  6. Deleting nodes in a tree
  7. Setting up permission roles for Move and Delete operations
  8. Writing T-SQL directly into the module to load tree data
  9. Passing variables (Tokens) into the SQL to return specific data
  10. Search feature in the data set

How tech-savy do I need to be to use Network Tree?

Basic SQL knowledge is sufficient to use this module. This module aims at aiding users with little or no programming experience

Can I upgrade to different license type ?

Yes, visit our website to look for multiple license options. For queries you can anytime mail us to support@dnnready.com , we will be ready to help you out.

If I upgrade DNN, do I also need to upgrade Network Tree?

Not necessarily, but it’s recommended because we test and optimize for new versions. At times, new DNN update might come with features not supported with the module operations. It's recommended to upgrade all at once to optimize the Q&A costs.
